Responsibilities

You will be responsible for the design and development of transmission and drivetrain components & solutions. This will include all development phases from conceptual design to end of production, and will require close collaboration with all parts of the organization, including but not limited to; Prototype, Testing, Procurement, Production, Quality, CAE and Homologation departments.

You will:

- Design mechanical systems & solutions with emphasis on performance and quality using a ‘first principles’ approach
- Generate 3D models, assemblies and 2D drawings using Catia V6 / 3DExperience
- Design and facilitate tests to verify component function and that requirements are met
- Carry out data analysis to perform root cause analysis, promote reliability and improve performance
- Assist in selecting and interacting with suppliers and technology providers to ensure quality and performance targets are met
- Work closely with the Prototype dept. during concept validation phase
- Provide technical support leading to successful introduction of components and systems into and throughout production
Requirements:


- 4+ years of experience in engineering design for Automotive/Aerospace or similar industries.
- Deep understanding of rotating assembly design and behavior
- Advanced CAD capabilities (CATIA V5/V6 or 3DEXPERIENCE)
- Solid FEA knowledge
- GD&T design and application
- Design components for state-of-the-art manufacturing methods

Meritorious experience:

- Work experience from top tier automotive or motorsport industry
- Vehicle NVH development knowledge
- Experience in hydraulic circuit design
- Practical hands-on experience working with cars/racing or similar (either professional or hobby)
- Transmission development experience
- Material science (material selection, heat treatment and surface treatments etc.)

THE ROLE

- Knowledge and experience in applying GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).

- Proven experience as a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer.

- Experience with PLM (product life cycle management) systems.

In this position, you are responsible for the assembly/disassembly of our prototype motors. You will take an active role in motor development which includes teardown and inspection of prototype products, documentation, and reporting any findings. You will lead the motor prototype team and coordinate their work. You will work in close collaboration with our development engineers, test engineers and manufacturing engineers.

Responsibilities

- To lead motor prototype build programs and feedback on process improvement
- To coordinate and support build activities
- To assemble and disassemble motors, test assemblies/rigs, modify/fabricate prototype parts
- To conduct basic electrical and functional safety tests
- To follow build instructions and help improve/document build processes
- To support test/development engineers on motor testing and troubleshooting
- To inspect and troubleshoot prototype products including documentation and reporting of findings
- To assist in the maintenance and orderliness of the working areas
- To allocate materials and track part usage


Need to have

To be successful as a Lead Motor Prototype Engineer you shall have the following capabilities and experiences:

- Experience leading assembly or prototyping team
- Experience of assembly and disassembly of electric motors
- Experience in use of adhesives and varnish resins
- Experience in handling wires and windings and working with insulation systems
- Experience in handling magnets
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and manuals
- Ability to document build records, inspection findings, potential design improvements and engineering change requests

Have general understanding of UN-ECE, EU, F/CMVSS, GB, GCC, UK, JP standards and regulations test requirements and execution. * Plan the test vehicle strategy together with prototype, homologation, and other internal customers.

Define the strategy for testing. Configure the vehicle and calibrate sensors for the test.

Ensure that all test equipment is calibrated prior to testing. Coordinate equipment calibration.
Conduct pre-homologation tests and sign off to proceed homologation tests.

Analyze, document, and report the test data.

Investigate test failures and create test reports, concerns, and improvement proposals for internal customers

Prepare the test setup for F/CMVSS in house testing. Perform the test according to the specs.

Proven CAVA experience is expected. Will be responsible for Virtual Testing implementation.

The Koenigsegg Powertrain Software and Testing Team is responsible for programming, diagnosing, and calibrating vehicle functions in C to control all aspects of vehicle powertrain systems. The strongest emphasis is on the overall safety of the vehicle while still maintaining an extreme level of performance.




Responsibilities of the Engine Controls Engineer:


Combustion engine control logic and testing
Combustion engine diagnostics logic and testing
Vehicle emissions certification calibration and testing
Traction control systems
Vehicle dynamics, drivability, the ‘fun factor’
Transmission control logic and testing





Requirements:


Formula Student, FSAE, Motorsports, and/or Automotive experience.
Project car or self-maintained track day car is a plus.
Good interpersonal skills and ability to train others.
Competency in C/C++.
